Welcome to BC Tech's Mumble servermumble.bctech.net
The instructions to connect to BC Tech's Mumble server are as follows:
I. Download Mumble from the
Mumble Website. You will want to choose the latest stable version for your OS (
Direct Link for Windows version 1.2.4 as of 10/10/2013)
II. Install Mumble Client on your computer (for windows users, double-click on the mumble-1.2.4.msi file that you have just downloaded, and select yes or allow to any security warnings recieved)
III. Mumble Setup program --> select 'Next' --> accept license agreement, select 'Next' --> select 'Next' (only need to install Mumble Client) --> select 'Install' --> check tickbox 'Start Mumble', and select 'Finish'.
IV. Start the Mumble application (Unless you ticked the checkbox 'Start Mumble' during setup.) Windows users will find the icon in the Start Menu or on the Metro screen.
V. The first time Mumble is started it will run you through the configuration wizard. The first wizard is the 'Audio Tuning Wizard'.
VI. Audio Tuning Wizard: select 'Next' --> select 'Next' again (or set your sound input/ouput devices) --> select 'Next' again --> use the 'Volume Tuning' to adjust your microphone level, select 'Next' --> select your PTT mode and hotkey or voice activation from this screen, then select 'Next' --> select 'Next' again --> select 'Next' again --> Select 'Finish'
VII. Next the 'Certificate Management' wizard will start. Certificate Management: leave setting as 'Automatic certificate creation' and select 'Next' --> select 'Finish'
VIII. Adding and connecting to the mumble server: select 'Add New...' on the server connect screen --> fill in a descriptive name or 'BC Tech Mumble' for Label, fill in 'mumble.bctech.net' for Address, fill in '64738' (standard, should be auto-filed) for Port, and fill in your desired username for Username, (NOTE: username should be unique to you and your computer. for example you play a toon named 'DBag' and you want to setup mumble on your laptop and desktop, you will want to use something like DBag-laptop and DBag-desktop, etc, as mumble links the username to the computer that it was first connected with for security), Select 'OK' when done.
IX. Connect to the server by double-clicking the server you just added or by left-clicking it and selecting 'Connect'.
X. When you first connect you will recieve an error message titled 'Wrong Password' this is normal and you will enter the password given to you in that message box and select 'OK'. Once you are connected to the server, select 'Self' from the file menu, and select 'Register'. This will register your computer and username with the mumble server (we can administratively do this for you but it is very helpful when our users perform the registration on their first connect)
XI. Congradulations, at this point you should be connected to BC Tech's mumble server.
